Fashion Awareness Direct Show

The final item on the Fashion Scout AW16 schedule read FAD.  And I said to myself, 'What on earth is that?'  As it turns out, FAD is what Vogue has called an 'undeniable springboard' for UK fashion design students.  The show was unlike anything I had seen yet, with a reception of champagne preceding the catwalk and an audience of proud parents who came to watch their children's designs go down the runway.

In total, there were 17 student finalists selected from across the country, each of whom had two designs in the show.  Unlike the edgy, provocative themes that we've seen throughout the week, the FAD show was genuinely happy, the majority of the audience holding back tears of joy.

FAD AIMS TO MAKE JOBS WITHIN THE FASHION AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES ACCESSIBLE TO ALL TALENTED YOUNG PEOPLE, REGARDLESS OF THEIR PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES, FINANCIAL SITUATION OR ETHNIC BACKGROUND.
